Russia
For seventy years Communism tried to keep a tight hold on those sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ. In 1992 the Iron Curtain fell and the doors to sharing the Gospel of Christ were opened.
When this took place the Cathcarts found themselves two hundred miles from the coast of Russia by boat from Japan. Using Japan as a base, they crossed the sea of Japan by container ship to Russia. There they spent the next year sharing the Gospel and working with Russian believers in Vladivostoc to plant 25 churches in the Primyorski region.
Since that time under the leadership of Pastor Alexei there are now over forty churches in the surrounding area. Missionary Noel Morris from New Zealand established a Bible Training facility so that now many workers are being trained to continue the spread of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Please pray for the harvest in Russia. The Russians are very receptive, but the hardships are great. The economy, transportation and common necessities make bringing the Gospel to the regions beyond main cities very difficult. Russia needs individuals with a pioneer spirit to take the Gospel to towns and villages yet reached.
